Brian, as far as the actual ballpark, we received a comment that says what improvements were done. That would lead me to believe the park was not in pristine condition when the new owners started working on it. As for the surrounding fields, I can first-hand tell you they were in a state of disarray as of mid-March. Perhaps they are better now.

Thanks for crediting me for the use of my photo as not every website is as considerate.

I have to say, this video is very deceiving as there is never any shots of the actual field, which last I knew was still in pristine condition. Yes, I’m sure the underbelly of the ballpark has been neglected, but to say the ballpark has been “abandoned” is very deceiving.

What a ridiculous and completely pointless article. I’m sure it was supposed to be funny, but I didn’t get it. Let the kid be. I don’t recall ARod or Griffey getting this kind of negative attention when they made their debuts as teenagers.

This is my first year as a member of the host family, and I love being a part of it all. I’m a huge baseball fan and this only seemed like a natural fit for me. Heather and I have done all we can for the three players we’ve been hosting, and we always feel like they are so grateful for everything. They’re a great bunch of kids, and being this involved in their lives while they’re here is an honor to us both, but when they move up the chain I’m sure it will be a bittersweet thing for us. The way these guys are playing, it may not be long before they do. While they’re here, we just hope to make their stay a great one. I had the good fortune of getting to know Jason Chowning a little bit before this year, and got to see him in Kissimmee this Spring, too. Great guy; very outgoing and personable. It’s always been interesting to me to learn a little about the off-field lives of the players, especially since that’s the part that most people don’t ever get to see.

Anyway, we hope to help make 2012 a great year for our guys, and as always wish them the best of luck on their way up. Love the blog, too! Keep it up!
