After gaining ground last week in the attendance battle with its affiliates, Cleveland faded back again this week and now trails by nearly 60,000 fans. Every week I feel the urge to point out that the Indians can’t keep trailing like this, that they’ve only played fourteen home games, that things will start to work out, blah blah blah. The fact is, the major league team draws terribly and the Triple-A team draws extremely well, which is going to narrow the gap considerably.
And just think: short season hasn’t even started yet.
The Marlins also fell back after getting into the black for a week. In this case, it’s Jacksonville (first in the Southern League) and Greensboro (first in the Sally League) doing the heavy work.
